the reification of the notion (the realization) - versaemerge: falling... oh, the warmth it bought to us. it put an end to what we thought couldn't stop. we're bound to wake up. (who we are and what we've done, it hasn't shown) (sit and watch as i arise)
the main reason i chose to use this was based on sound, rather than lyrics/meaning. it has this quiet, dream-like (nightmare?) feel. much like what i think effy's mind was like when she was going through her depression this also kind of .
"caves" - jack's mannequin: i'm caught somewhere in between alive and living a dream. no peace. just clicking machines in the quiet of compazine. the walls caved in on me.
effy in the mental clinic. pretty self explanatory.
#1 - 1997: i'm in need of a doctor or shock therapy. won'y you please wipe my memory clean?
i think this relates a lot to effy's treatment and the way she was pretending to forget all of the bad things happening to her. and her wanting to go back into the past where everything was better
"weak sister" - paper rival: weak sister, put on your nightgown. walk out west and watch the valley drink the sun down. if nothing's changing, then nothing's breaking, make your way to bed.
this is just me wanting some tony support for effy. aside from that, it also fits as a brother/sister song for s1/2.
"die tonight, live forever" - innerpartysystem: we're all here 'cause we've lost control
pre-s4 effy. a lot of what she was like before her break down.
"nails for breakfast, tacks for snacks" - panic at the disco: prescribed pills to offset the shakes to offset the pills
"all i see" - lydia: but you are the never ending sleep that i, i love to treat with this medicine i get from my, my closer friends. but all i see.
"the river" - manchester orchestra: oh god i need it. well i was wrong again. take me to the river and make me clean again
effy losing her way, going from being in control and so sure of everything on s1 into the beginning of s3, and then just everything falling apart beyond that.
